Social Media & Marketing Intern
|

The Social Media & Marketing (SMM) Intern, under direct supervision of KALI’s Executive Director, will support the organization to develop a process for marketing and outreach through various on-line media. The development of the Social Media & Marketing process primarily refers to providing training and ensuring strategic and appropriate sharing of KALI’s program successes, best practices and lessons learned. The end goal of both the Social Media and the Marketing effort is to increase KALI's value to potential donors and supporters, with the aim of expanding the organization's funding base.
Work done by the SMM intern will enable KALI to expand its reach beyond the 825,000 beneficiaries the organization currently serves. Successful completion of the internship will help KALI’s staff build their capacity in documenting and sharing the efforts and impacts of the organization. In addition, the intern will have an opportunity to observe first hand how his/her work will build KALI’s current initiatives in promoting good governance and accountability at the district level. Specifically, KALI works with grassroots groups comprised of women, youth and marginalized individuals to ensure their voices and demands are heard. Ultimately, the organization's end goal is to empower the civil society to be able to track public expenditure, and demand for proper health, education, water and sanitation services.
The intern will spend 80% of the time in-office with 20% travel to the field. Typical work schedule for the intern will be Monday – Friday from 9:00am-5:00pm. KALI has 10 full time staff, and 1 volunteer based in office. The organization has 5 laptops and all staff know how to use basic computer software.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
A. Social Media & Marketing (approx. 65% of the time)
B. Training (approx. 30% of the time)
C. Administrative Support (5% of the time)
Expected Outcomes:
Supervision and Guidance
The Intern will be directly supervised by the Executive Director and is expected to carry out most job functions independently. The intern will take a significant role in initiating the processes necessary to complete the tasks. In addition to the direct supervisor, the Intern will be assigned a counterpart who will serve as an additional point of resource and reference.
