Program Overview
Internships in Human Rights and Law in India and Kosovo offer unique opportunities to engage with social justice movements, legal advocacy, and community empowerment in regions navigating complex histories and ongoing challenges. Whether supporting legal frameworks in India or contributing to post-conflict recovery in Kosovo, these experiences allow interns to take part in meaningful efforts to promote equality, accountability, and human dignity.
In India, a rapidly growing population and expanding economy bring both opportunity and urgent human rights challenges. Organizations in this space are tackling critical social issues such as corruption, unemployment, poverty, and misinformation, all while working to strengthen institutional mechanisms and promote the rule of law. As an intern, you will support legal advocacy efforts that fight discrimination, increase public safety, and empower underrepresented communities.
A major focus is also placed on caste-based discrimination and violence, particularly against Dalit communities. Interns help develop and implement programs that raise awareness of legal protections, provide legal support, and promote equal rights for historically marginalized groups. Through capacity building, advocacy, and grassroots initiatives, you will help amplify the voices of those often excluded from India's progress, contributing to real policy change and social justice.
In Kosovo, the legacy of the 1990s war and the country’s relatively recent independence in 2008 continue to shape the landscape of law and human rights. Organizations here are actively engaged in transitional justice, peacebuilding, and strengthening the rule of law. They work to protect victims of past and present human rights abuses, support legal reforms, and empower young people and minorities to take active roles in shaping a more just society.
Interns contribute to monitoring and documenting human rights violations, supporting legal protections, and assisting with community-based efforts to promote accountability and reconciliation. These organizations aim to preserve collective memory, advocate for victims’ rights, and advance social cohesion in a post-conflict society working toward long-term peace and stability.
Across both countries, these internships offer hands-on experience in legal research, human rights reporting, advocacy, and community organizing. You will work alongside lawyers, activists, and social workers who are at the forefront of promoting justice, challenging systemic inequality, and ensuring that all people—regardless of background—have the tools and protections necessary to live with dignity and freedom.
