Democracy and Governance

Intern with an institute dedicated to supporting democracy in Kosovo since 1999. The organization played a crucial role in the aftermath of Kosovo's liberation, focusing on citizen-based election monitoring, the establishment of a national legislature, the development of a political party system, and fostering civic activism. Your internship at this institute will involve providing support to various project areas aimed at improving legislative and political responsiveness to citizens' needs.

Key Project Areas:

  1. Policy Development and Constituent Outreach:Assist political parties in policy development.
    Support outreach efforts to constituents.
    Coordinate caucuses for effective collaboration.

  2. Promoting Openness and Transparency in Parliament:Work towards enhancing transparency in parliamentary proceedings.
    Advocate for open and accessible government processes.

  3. Strengthening Parliamentary Capacity:Support initiatives to enhance parliamentary capacity for effective oversight.
    Contribute to legislative actions that benefit citizens.

  4. Political Participation of Women, Youth, and Ethnic Minorities:Work towards promoting the active participation of underrepresented groups in politics.
    Implement programs to empower women, youth, and ethnic minorities.

  5. Technical Support for Kosovar Serb Politicians:Provide technical support and training to Kosovar Serb politicians.
    Focus on integrating their communities into Kosovo's governance system, particularly in northern municipalities adjacent to Serbia.

  6. Conflict Mitigation Program:Explore communal relations among Albanians, Serbs, and other ethnic groups.
    Implement programs involving religious, artistic, media, and community exchange for conflict mitigation.

Internship Responsibilities:

  • Provide support to one or more project areas mentioned above.

  • Assist in policy development and constituent outreach.

  • Contribute to initiatives promoting parliamentary openness and transparency.

  • Support efforts to strengthen parliamentary capacity.

  • Engage in programs that enhance the political participation of women, youth, and ethnic minorities.

  • Assist in providing technical support to Kosovar Serb politicians.

  • Contribute to conflict mitigation programs through various initiatives.

Requirements:

  • Pursuing or holding a degree in political science, international relations, public policy, or related fields.

  • Strong interest in democracy, governance, and civic activism.

  • Excellent communication and coordination skills.

  • Willingness to engage in initiatives promoting inclusivity and political participation.

  • Sensitivity to communal relations and conflict mitigation efforts.
