While Isla has defined internship opportunities in a variety of sectors and career fields, all internship placements are tailored to the academic background, skill set, and interests of each applicant. Whether you are an individual applying for an Isla internship or a participant in one of our group/faculty-led university programs, we make sure your internship is a good fit for you.
Group and Faculty-Led University Programs
Isla partners with universities and academic institutions to develop group trips that combine an academic program with Isla internship placements. Isla manages the trip logistics, too!

Isla faculty-led and group trips provide an opportunity for students, friends, family, classmates or colleagues to come together on a short-term, high-impact project with one or more of Isla's local partner grassroots organizations. In addition, we believe giving students first-hand internship experience with one of Isla partner organizations adds incredible value to any academic curriculum abroad.
Ideally, the group trips are designed around a group, such as a university course, club, or service learning or volunteer group that is already engaged with a topic that aligns closely with the goals and priorities of our host communities. Any group with a genuine interest in developing a strong relationship with a local community abroad can participate in this program.
With our work across several interrelated sectors, such as education and youth development, the arts and cultural preservation, social justice and gender equality, global health and well-being, small business and social enterprise development, social justice, and environmental and wildlife conservation and education, and much more - we tailor our partnerships to each institution or department.
