Decarbonization for Climate Resilience Project

Intern with a leading regional non-governmental organization dedicated to promoting inclusive and equitable progress in the Western Balkans within the sustainable development domain. Collaborating with partner organizations, this NGO advocates for development policies aligned with global challenges and national agendas for EU integration.

Internship Description:

Projects:

1. Decarbonization for Climate Resilience Project:

  • Support the drafting of the National Plan for Energy and Climate.

  • Organize roundtable discussions during Kosovo Sustainable Development Week.

  • Conduct desk research on environmental and energy data, drawing insights from global best practices.

  • Assist in various project activities as assigned.

2. “Energy Transformation and Decarbonization in the Western Balkans” Project:

  • Contribute to mapping relevant stakeholders in the energy transition process.

  • Assist in establishing a core group of NGOs for collaboration.

  • Participate in national and regional dialogue forums.

  • Prepare opinion papers, policy briefs, and pitches.

  • Engage in awareness-raising campaigns, including debate tournaments and collaboration with journalists.

  • Conduct research on phasing in renewable energy and decarbonization.

  • Prepare policy briefs on current reports and studies.

  • Assist in providing recommendations for the drafting of the National Energy and Climate Plan (NECP) for Kosovo.

Additional Opportunities:

3. Upcoming 4-Year Project:

  • Supported by the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency.

  • Focus on air, water, soil pollution, waste management, with activities including policy monitoring, research on carbon pricing, and green journalism.

4. RenovAID Project:

  • With partners from Albania and Poland, supported by the European Climate Initiative (EUKI).

  • Aims to enhance energy efficiency in public buildings in the region.

  • Opportunities to interact with local stakeholders.

Internship Expectations:

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist with project implementation and research needs.

  • Support activities like research, assessments, policy brief preparation, and event preparations.

  • Contribute to project documentation, reports, and data gathering.

  • Provide English-speaking, writing, and editing skills to the staff as needed.

Supervision and Guidance:

  • Operate under the supervision of the Executive Director and Project Manager.

  • Work closely with organizational staff and volunteers.

  • Provide technical support and work independently based on guidance from program staff.

Requirements:

  • Interest in sustainable development, energy, and environmental policies.

  • Strong research, writing, and communication skills.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.

  • Enthusiasm for global development and the NGO's mission.

This internship offers a hands-on experience mirroring entry-level global development positions, providing valuable exposure to diverse projects and initiatives.
