Energy Transformation and Decarbonization in the Western Balkans
Intern with a leading regional non-governmental organization in Kosovo, focusing on sustainable development in the Western Balkans. The organization collaborates with partner NGOs to advocate for development policies aligned with global standards and national agendas for EU integration. The Isla Intern will work closely with the project team, contributing to research and program assistance. Explore the following internship opportunities:
1. "Energy Transformation and Decarbonization in the Western Balkans" Project:
- Assist the Project Coordinator in implementing various activities, such as national and regional dialogue forums, expert talks, study visits, and awareness-raising campaigns.
- Conduct research on phasing in renewable energy and decarbonization.
- Prepare policy briefs/one-pagers on current reports and studies related to renewable energy.
- Conduct desk research on best practices in other countries regarding the decarbonization process and phasing in renewable energy.
- Provide recommendations for the drafting of the National Energy and Climate Plan (NECP) for Kosovo.
2. Decarbonization for Climate Resilience Project:
- Support the Project Coordinator in implementing activities related to the National Plan for Energy and Climate.
- Conduct desk research on best practices from other countries regarding environmental and energy data.
- Create a list of data that should be available to the public.
- Assist in organizing roundtable discussions as part of the Kosovo Sustainable Development Week.
3. New Projects for 2024 (to be announced soon):
- Engage in a 4-year project supported by the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency, focusing on air, water, soil pollution, waste management, and the energy sector.
- Participate in the RenovAID project, supported by the European Climate Initiative, aimed at enhancing energy efficiency in public buildings.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist with the implementation of research needs and activities for the initiatives.
- Prepare project documentation, meeting minutes, reports, surveys, and data gathering.
- Conduct research, undertake assessment tasks, and prepare policy briefs.
- Provide English-speaking, writing, and editing skills to the staff when needed.
Supervision and Guidance:
- Operate under the supervision of the Executive Director and Project Manager.
- Collaborate with other organizational staff and volunteers.
- Provide technical support and work independently based on guidance.
