Global Health, Business & Entrepreneurship, Education & Youth Development

Intern with a non-governmental organization (NGO) founded in June 2000 by Drs. Madhuri and B. M. Bharadwaj, located near Bharatpur, Rajasthan, just 25 miles from the iconic Taj Mahal.
This esteemed NGO serves as a sanctuary for the less fortunate among us, including those who are physically or mentally ill, abandoned by their families, or victims of abuse, and those who have found themselves homeless. Regardless of their religion, caste, or creed, all residents are welcomed, and they receive essential services free of charge. The organization's mission is to provide support to people found on the roadside, with a special focus on residents known as "Prabhuji," who are seen as representations of God. These Prabhujis are provided with food, shelter, clothing, medical attention, and hope through the dedicated efforts of trained volunteers, staff, and doctors working closely with each ashram.
Today, this home for the homeless serves more than 5,000 people across 29 homes in India and Nepal. These homes are spread across various regions, including Rajasthan, Delhi, Gujarat, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, and West Bengal. In a significant development, the organization opened its first international ashram in Nepal in February 2019. Additionally, they maintain a network of 34 help centers and 60 telephone helplines to respond promptly to reports of homeless individuals and bring them to the nearest ashram. They provide separate accommodations for females, children, the elderly, the mentally disabled, and the sick, many of whom suffer from various health challenges, including HIV, TB, cancer, epilepsy, leprosy, paralysis, polio, sight and hearing impairments.
To address the extensive medical needs of residents, a dedicated hospital was established in February 2019.
