Human Rights

Intern with our partner organization in India and join the fight against the persistent challenges faced by marginalized communities, particularly with respect to economic rights, self-dignity, and the ever-present threats of violence and discrimination based on caste. Despite some notable advancements in legal protection and affirmative action, these issues remain a pressing concern.

Globalization and political trends that prioritize economic growth over equity have further exacerbated these conditions. Not only do they intensify the impact of discrimination, violence, and poverty, but they also erode the sense of public and private accountability for addressing these problems.

It is within this context that international laws and policies, accompanied by a range of monitoring and enforcement mechanisms, play a crucial role. These mechanisms can be utilized in tandem with local laws to effectively expose abuses and seek accountability at various levels, from the local and state to the national and international.

Your internship with this partner organization is a unique opportunity to contribute to the fight against these deeply ingrained challenges. The organization's mission is clear: to raise awareness about human rights and legal protections among Dalit communities, empowering them to advocate for their rights to live with equality, freedom, and dignity. This mission is further supported through capacity building, legal and technical assistance, networking, and advocacy. The ultimate goal is to eliminate caste-based discrimination and promote inclusion in society. By interning with this organization, you will be a vital part of this transformative process, working towards a more equitable and just world.
