Organizational Capacity Building
Intern with a prominent organization at the forefront of advocating for women's rights in Kosovo. Their mission involves supporting, protecting, and promoting the rights of women and girls throughout Kosovo, regardless of various factors such as political beliefs, religion, age, education level, sexual orientation, and abilities. The organization implements its mission through experience and information exchange, partnership building, research, advocacy, and service delivery, envisioning a Kosovo where women and men enjoy equal opportunities in education, employment, political participation, healthcare, and a life free from violence.
The organization's strategy encompasses six program areas, and they collaborate closely with 180 member organizations and partners. As an intern, you will contribute to organizational capacity building and support the needs of member organizations across different sectors in Kosovo. Tasks may include fundraising, public relations, research, English proofreading and editing, project implementation, and event planning.
Projects and Internship Overview:
1. Strengthening the Feminist Movement in Kosovo:
- Focus on building inclusive, diverse, and sustainable feminist movements.
- Provide support, capacity development, networking, outreach, and solidarity to women's rights activists and organizations.
2. Women in Politics and Decision-making:
- Implement laws and institutional mechanisms to increase women's participation in politics.
- Long-term goal: Active participation of women in politics and decision-making at local and central levels.
3. Women’s Rights to Healthcare:
- Address women’s healthcare issues by improving accountability among public officials and health institutions.
- Work towards increased access to quality healthcare for women.
4. A Life Free from Gender-based Violence:
- Monitor the implementation of legal frameworks related to gender-based violence.
- Focus on the Kosovo Strategy and Action Plan for Protection from Domestic Violence.
5. Empowering Women Economically:
- Promote equal economic opportunities for women and men.
- Address low participation of women in the labor market and employment rates.
- Long-term goal: Improve access to quality education challenging existing gender norms.
- Transform gender norms through improved curricula from early education to all levels.
Isla is seeking an intern with a background in gender studies, international studies, diplomacy, political sciences, social studies, communications, public relations, English, creative writing, or related fields. The ideal candidate should possess initiative, the ability to work independently in office and field settings, motivation, commitment, excellent interpersonal skills, and cultural awareness, including understanding Kosovo's culture, history, and current events.
